(Belmont) Mount Nelson Hotel
This 5 star hotel is not only great for families but is also one of the most prestigious and historic hotels in the city. The hotel is set within 9 acres of beautiful gardens so kids can have a good run around. Their child-friendly facilities include providing pint-size bathrobes and slippers, a children’s menu and high chairs in the restaurant, spa treatments especially designed for kids and lots of fun activities. Cots and additional beds are available; there is complementary cookies and milk at bedtime, children’s books, games and X Box on hand as well as a babysitting service (at an additional fee). In the Nellie & Nelson Activity Center kids 3-12 years can play and be entertained. There is also a Teen Lounge for 12-18 year olds. The Twelve Apostles Hotel
An amazing thing about this hotel from other Capetown family hotels is that kids under 12 years get to stay for free in their parent’s room. Among the many extras provided for kids there are gift bags on arrival, free in-room movies, children’s bathrobes, prams and cots available and screenings of kid-friendly films every afternoon. Protea Hotel Sea Point
This hotel is located near the Sea Point Promenade where there are some great playgrounds. It is also near the Pavilion where there is a kid’s pool and activities. There are family rooms and duplex-style apartments. There is an interactive lobby and kids will love the pool and Milkshake Bar. Next door is the Spur Steakhouse which offers kids menus, a gaming area and kid-friendly food. The hotel has a kid’s pool and a great attitude.
Protea Breakwater Lodge
This family-friendly hotel offers free cribs, babysitting services, a children’s club and two kids under 12 years stay free in their parent’s room. There are one and two bedroom family rooms. Each room has an iPod mini and the hotel provides beach bags, tea, coffee, cake and biscuits throughout the day. There is also a DVD library to choose from.
City Lodge Hotel V&A Waterfront
This hotel has a fun marine theme throughout with a pool, 24 hour vending machine with snacks, free muffins in “to-go” bags in the morning, homemade lemonade in the afternoons and a pool. Reviewers rave about the great location on the waterfront at 3 star prices. There is tea and coffee making facilities in the room but no fridge. There are rooms with sofa beds for the kids.
Lagoon Beach hotel and Apartments
Although a 4 star hotel this is a budget-friendly place to stay. It's a perfect option from the other Capetown family hotels if you are looking to save on accomodation. The establishments offers families interconnecting rooms and 2 bedroom suites as well as 2 bedroom apartments. The apartments have an equipped kitchenette and Lagoon Beach direct beach access. There are 3 restaurants and 3 pools. Kids 12 and under stay free on existing bedding in the parent’s room and babysitting services are available.
