Here's how to go on a Dolphin Watch Cruise! We wanted to see the famous wild dolphins so much while in Perth!
Rockingham Wild Encounters was a great choice as they offer a variety of cruises and options to get up close and personal with these lovely creatures! We chose the 90 minute Dolphin Watch Cruise.
The cruise was amazing! We were taken on a lovely ride through Rockingham where islands and other features were pointed out to us and we searched for dolphins- as these are wild dolphins the staff never know where they may find them so we were all told to keep our eyes open.
We raced at very fast speed towards Fremantle with our hair blowing madly in the wind- my teenager Alex thought was simply amazing and cool!
After about 20 minutes on board we spotted a fairly large group of about 10 dolphins- mothers and babies. We had a ball watching them swim around us -they really come right up to the boat. They seemed to sense we were watching them and did a few tricks and playful moves for us too!
Rockingham Wild Encounters offers a swim with the dolphins package too and Alex is dying to try that!
Next our boat took us to see the sea lions which was pretty amazing too. There were more than 20 and we really got close up and could see them interacting with each other.
Our guides were amazing and my younger daughter had lots of questions which they were happy to answer.
At the end we were dropped of a Penguin Island, which is a small and beautiful island about 30 minutes ferry from the Rockingham ferry port.
You can have a picnic here (you need to bring all your own supplies as nothing is sold on this island).
You can also see a live penguin feeding and swim, hike or just enjoy the scenery. We walked around Penguin Island and the kids had fun collecting shells and looking for star fish!
There are ferries back to the mainland every hour until later afternoon.
