The Jasper Tramway is in Jasper National Park, just 10 minutes from Jasper, Alberta along the Icefields Parkway Highway.
In the past the Tramway has won the Trip Advisor Travelers' Choice Award and Jasper has been named one of the top world destinations.
On the Jasper Tramway you'll be on the highest and the longest aerial tramway of this kind in Canada.
The tramway reaches 2,277 meters above sea level. The tramway takes visitors high above the alpine tundra of the park.
From the tramway you can look out across six mountain ranges, lakes, the Athabasca River and the town of Jasper.
The journey over the beautiful countryside begins at the lower station where there is a gift store, snack corner, ticket office and toilets.
From the lower station you enter the tram cabin which can hold a maximum of 30 people and one cabin operator. A knowledgeable guide travels with you during the seven minute trip to the upper station on Whistlers Mountain.
The guide will give you information about the things you can see from the tram cabin. He will point out significant areas, mountains and any wildlife you may see on the way.
Among the wildlife you may see are the Hoary Marmot, White-tailed Ptarmigan, Pikas and even Bighorn Sheep.
In addition to pointing out things in the park below, the guide will tell visitors about the history of the area and the park itself. This makes it not only a thrilling activity but also quite educational.
Once you reach the end of the tramway you'll find yourself in the alpine surroundings where the views are breathtaking.
There are boardwalks along the edge of the mountain overlooking the scenery, and at intervals along the walkway you'll find interpretive plaques so you can learn even more about the National Park below.
At the upper station there is a gift store, toilets and the Treeline Restaurant. The restaurant is suitable for quick snacks or full meals and has three separate dining areas each with stunning views.
If you want you can leave the boardwalk and take to the hiking trails which lead to the summit. The restaurant has self-service buffet style dining and a casual atmosphere.
There are several package offers: Do The Two –for C$77.15 for adults and C$38.57 for kids, take a boat cruise on Maligne Lake and a ride on the tramway.
